Diving in the Turks and Caicos islands or Saba? Had an encounter with a spotted eagle ray? See if you can identify it from the image database. Our research team is always excited to recieve images of repeat sightings and also new individuals.

We would be very grateful if you could send images to janlupton@hotmail.com (South Caicos/Grand Turk) or jackie.t.walker@gmail.com (Providenciales). Please attach as much of the following information as possible:

  1. Location
  2. Date
  3. Time
  4. Estimated width
  5. Sex (see Biology and Behaviour)
  6. Group size
  7. Behaviours (e.g. feeding)
  8. If you think it is a new individual, please give it a name!

These sightings will be uploaded to our database and will contribute valuable information to our national monitoring program in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Live elsewhere? Why not start your own spotted eagle ray monitoring program? If you are a dive centre or individual that regularly encounters and photographs white spotted eagle rays and want to start up your own monitoring program we would love to hear from you and can provide helpful advice. Please contact janlupton@hotmail.com.
